We are very excited about our new baskets made from dried palm leaves. These are woven into strips that are then sewn together to make baskets. It is our first fully vegan product and we are very proud of it.
The handmade baskets come from a small village in central Mexico. Palm leaves make up a significant part of the income in this community and the traditional methods of making woven baskets are passed down through generations. Since it is made from rapidly regrowing leaves, it is a very sustainable product.
Joshuee, our main contact on site, gets support from two other professionals. It takes them about four hours to complete a basket and to attach the pearls.
There are many different uses for the baskets. They are perfect for strolling through the city, as well as a beach bag or as a storage for towels, scarves or blankets. Since all baskets are 100 percent handmade, small deviations are less of a mistake than an expression of their uniqueness.
